KL Deemed to be University Wins Prestigious Award for Best Water Management

Hyderabad: March 20th, 2023:  KL Deemed to be University has been awarded the Best Water Management- Institution by Advance Water Digest Pvt. Ltd. 2022-23 in an event supported by UNESCO and the Ministries of Jal Shakthi and Environment of the Government of India. The university is honoured by this award for its exceptional water management strategies and conservation measures. With its operations, inventions, and associated initiatives, the University is helping to create a water-secure world. The Chief Guest Hon’ble Shri Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Union Cabinet Minister in Ministry of Jal Shakti, Sister Shivani, life coach from Brahma Kumari’s Spiritual Movement of India presided over the felicitation and presented the award to Dr. V Rajesh, Dean, P&D, KL Deemed to be University in New Delhi on 16th March 2023.

The environmental impact, efficacy of water consumption, ease of replication, advantages of the system, and sustainability of the institution’s water management practices were the primary characteristics examined for this award. With its water management policy and the 4R philosophy of Reduce, Recharge, Recycle, and Reuse, KL Deemed to be University performed best in the aforementioned categories. This was the only award in the institution category that was bestowed to the University. More than 23 awards including Govt. organizations were announced in various categories. The majority of awards (11+) were announced and received by the various IAS Directors and Govt. Secretaries.

Commenting on the honor, Dr. G. Pardha Saradhi Varma, Vice Chancellor, KL Deemed to be Universitysaid, “It’s incredible to be able to take part in such an important mission to reduce water waste and make our waters safer. As part of this noble cause, our university has worked towards implementing a water conservation policy to limit usage and use alternative sources of water. We have introduced rain harvesting technologies, provided better plumbing systems, and encouraged student participation in monitoring water usage and its effectiveness. Our efforts are finally beginning to show fruit and with the second round of honour for this endeavour, we can proudly proclaim that we have made an impact. This has been possible only because of our collective efforts and collective desire to reduce water waste and improve its quality.

Under the guidance of KL Management seniors, these innovative initiatives were continuously implemented by the faculty members, staff along with Mr. Kanneganti Jyothishya Brahma Chari, Associate Dean, Planning and Development to ensure that the University met the parameters required for preserving the resources.
