Maruti Suzuki partners with Guru Nanak College (Autonomous), Chennai to skill students in auto retail management

Chennai: Maruti Suzuki India Limited today announced its partnership with Guru Nanak College (Autonomous), Chennai, as it broadened its scope to offer industry relevant skill training to candidates in Tamil Nadu. As a part of the MoU, the institute will offer BBA in Retail Management through an extensive three-year industry-oriented program. The students will be skilled to become industry ready via one-year theoretical training followed by two-years of On-the-Job Training (OJT). 

The course curriculum has been jointly curated by Maruti Suzuki and Guru Nanak College (Autonomous), Chennai. Aligned to the prescribed UGC guidelines, it has been designed in line with the automobile industry requirements.

To enhance learning, the students will get holistic exposure to both theoretical as well as practical aspects at Maruti Suzuki dealerships in Chennai. Further, the OJT will enable the students to gather experience in actual work environment, making them ready to be employed.

Based on an ‘Earn While You Learn’ model, the students are offered a stipend during the two-year OJT period. Once the student completes the course, the Company will support in placement of students at Maruti Suzuki dealerships, subject to their performance.

Under its Industry Integrated Degree Program initiative, Maruti Suzuki has joined hands with universities across the country to offer skill training in automobile retail. These efforts are a part of the Company’s Skill Development initiative.

With the MoU signed with Guru Nanak College (Chennai), now, Maruti Suzuki has tie-ups with nine universities in eight cities, namely Shri Vishwakarma Skill University (Gurgaon), Delhi Skill & Entrepreneurship University (Delhi), Savitribai Phule Pune University (Pune), GLS University (Ahmedabad), Tata Institute of Social Sciences – SVE (Mumbai), B.K. Birla College (Kalyan), Centurion University of Technology & Management (Bhubaneswar), and Kristu Jayanti College (Bengaluru). 369 students are currently being trained as a part of these partnerships across different cities.
