New Delhi, July 17: Secretary General of Muslim World League, His Excellency Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa held meetings with Prime Minister Modi and President Droupadi Murmu as part of his visit to India. With the agenda of promoting peace, the leaders discussed the importance of global diversity and inter-faith dialogue.

Post the meeting, President Droupadi Murmu said that India attaches great importance to its relationship with Saudi Arabia. The two countries have a longstanding history of amicable relations rooted in trade and people-to-people ties. Both our countries have valuable teachings to share with the world, she added.

The Secretary General also held talks with Minister of External Affairs, S. Jaishankar and Union Minister Smriti Irani.

During his visit, Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa visited Akshardham Temple, interacted with Swamis and shared his views with them. He also visited the Jama Masjid and delivered the Friday sermon.

Earlier last week, His Excellency also addressed a gathering of prominent religious leaders, academics and media at the India Islamic Cultural Centre. During the event, he shared the stage with National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and praised the Indian society for displaying unity.

Dr Mohammad Bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa is the Secretary General of The Muslim World League or Rabitat al-Alam al-Islami, an International Islamic NGO that is founded and funded by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
