HelpAge receives the GuideStar India Platinum Certification for ‘transparency & public accountability’

New Delhi, 19th July’23: HelpAge India has received the GuideStar India Platinum Certification for ‘transparency & Public Accountability’ in its work in the past year, serving disadvantaged and poor elderly. GuideStar India is India’s largest and most reliable NGO information repository.

“It is heartening to receive this Certification, it is indeed a catalyst for us. Transparency and accountability are critical for any organisation, especially when it comes to people and institutions trusting their hard-earned money to an organisation, for the greater good. Many individuals, institutions and corporate donors have joined hands with us and are supporting our cause of helping disadvantaged elders. Our over 160 MHUs (Mobile Healthcare Units) serving 2000 locations across the country, have led to more support from the industry and philanthropists, but behind all this are our team of workers who work hard and are committed to the elder cause,” says Mr. Kanchan Sen, Country Head, Resource Mobilisation & Marketing, HelpAge India.

Welcoming support coming from various quarters, including corporates, for working for senior citizens, HelpAge India has been receiving global-level certifications and recognitions for maintaining the highest standards of transparency in financial operations and project executions for helping seniors, over the years.

GuideStar India, is the country’s largest and most reliable online information repository with nearly eleven thousand non-governmental organisations. It also provides information infrastructure for the philanthropy ecosystem.

“We work maintaining the highest level of financial hygiene and transparency in the money that we spend on project executions, as per the norms laid down by the government,” says Kanchan Sen.

The prestigious GuideStar India Champion Level-Platinum certification awarded underwent a rigorous due diligence process, and is an indication of a high level of accountability and good governance procedures adopted by the organisation. GuideStar shares in the public domain the organisation’s tax returns filed within due date, audited annual accounts, and auditor’s report submitted to tax authorities for two years, and verifies that there are no material qualifications in its audited accounts.
