Chennai: 24th July, 2023: The Adani Foundation, in association with the Adani Kattupalli Port team, took a significant step towards improving the educational infrastructure and health facilities for girl students at JS Government Higher Secondary School in Pulicat Panchayat. The team officially handed over a Toilet Block comprising of 6 units dedicated to the girl students of the school.
Prior to the construction of this much-needed facility, the school was facing a critical issue in providing adequate toilet facilities for its 220 girl students out of the total 380 students. The absence of proper sanitation facilities caused health concerns among the students, especially considering their age group of 15-17 years. The lack of clean toilets and basic amenities put them at risk of infections and health-related issues.
Taking their commitment to supporting rural communities and promoting healthcare initiatives, the Adani Foundation actively engages with the villagers around Kattupalli Port to understand their needs and challenges. Recognizing the urgent need for improved sanitation at JS Government Higher Secondary School, the Adani Foundation proactively came forward to address the situation.
The newly constructed Toilet Block is part of the Adani Foundation’s larger program dedicated to promoting healthcare for rural communities. By providing access to clean and well-maintained sanitation facilities, the aim is to create an environment that fosters education and empowers girl students to focus on their studies without worrying about their well-being.
In addition to the Toilet Block, the Adani Foundation has previously contributed to the school’s development by establishing a Computer SMART Lab equipped with 20 computer systems and a learning platform. This lab has been instrumental in benefiting all 380 students by enhancing their digital literacy and educational opportunities.
