National, 4th October 2023: Taking forward its long-standing collaboration with FDCI, Pearl Academy, India’s leading creative institute, is set to present an all-new edition of FDCI x Pearl Academy FirstCut. Young, aspiring designers and fashion students from Pearl Academy will have the unique opportunity of presenting their exclusive pieces at the Lakmé Fashion Week in partnership with FDCI on 15th October 2023 in Delhi.
Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI) and Pearl Academy are poised to embark on a remarkable journey through time and space with the unveiling of “Moon’s Echo” this season. After mankind’s historic first landing on the moon in 1969, fashion underwent a transformative evolution that mirrored the spirit of exploration and innovation. The Apollo 11 mission not only marked a giant leap for science but also inspired a fashion revolution. Space-age aesthetics, characterized by sleek metallic fabrics, futuristic silhouettes, and reflective materials, became all the rage. Designers like Pierre Cardin and André Courrèges led the charge, introducing space-age fashion elements into their collections. The lunar landing ignited a fascination with space exploration, influencing not only clothing but also jewelry, accessories, and even hairstyles. It was a time when fashion boldly ventured into uncharted territory, reflecting humanity’s boundless aspirations and imagination. This vision of the future went on to become the ‘look’ of the future for years to come. Until now. India has landed on the moon unmanned. ‘The Silent Moon Waltz’ by Pearl Academy, takes us on a journey where we imagine and propose our generation’s ‘futuristic’ for the decades to come.
Pearl Academy presents ‘The Silent Moon Waltz’, is an extraordinary extravaganza of fun, fashion and frolic that has been put together by our students. The range of designs comprise a huge array of silhouettes that are contemporary as well as futuristic bordering on the realms of avant-gardé. One will get glimpses of anti-fit silhouettes synonymous with Oriental Street style resplendent with layering and monochromatic ombre effects as well as exaggerated silhouettes giving one a feel of power dressing clubbed aesthetically with eclecticism. This collection is an ode to the rich and exuberant treasure of Indian craftsmanship and textiles coupled with an international flavor. There is a certain degree of ruggedness, yet a seamless sense of rhythm binding the entire collection together forming a bouquet of silhouettes, textures, style and color that is unique in every possible manner.
Speaking about the students’ showcase Aditi Srivastava, President Pearl Academy says, “The Silent Moon Waltz collection by Pearl Academy students encompasses an extensive range of contemporary and forward-looking designs.
