Bengaluru, 30th October 2023 : Nature inFocus, a leading production house that specializes in films and documentaries of the natural world, proudly announced the release of the music single “ Baagh Aayore” by Indian Ocean, the pioneering Indian folk fusion rock band as a precursor to the launch of its feature length documentary ‘Project Tiger’. The band has composed the song along with the entire background score for the film. They will perform the theme song live exclusively for the audience after the documentary screening on 4th November 2023 in Bengaluru.
The mesmerizing composition has been inspired by India’s majestic tigers with musical beats from the indigenous cultures of India that connect us together to the base rhythm of all humanity.
Celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Project Tiger, the feature-length documentary film reveals the extraordinary untold story of India’s audacious mission to save a global icon from extinction. The documentary, an unprecedented account of India’s flagship conservation initiative, is set to debut on 4th November 2023. Backed by The Sandur Manganese and Iron Ores Limited, Discovery Village, and the Rainmatter Foundation it has become the largest and most ambitious conservation project in history.
Commenting on the new theme song, Rohit Varma, Filmmaker, Nature inFocus said, “ Inspired by folk songs from multiple parts of India, the song captures the story of how the people who saved the tiger were actually saved by it instead. Because of Project Tiger, we ended up saving the forest and because of the forest we ended up saving our rivers. The revival of the forests & rivers – our lifelines, deeply impacted human lives. At the end of the day, this conservation project is not just the tiger’s story. It is also the story of people, those who live in and close to forests, with wildlife around them. The ‘Baagh’ serves as a symbol that heralds nature’s bounty in real life that is captured in the song. I am thrilled that Nature inFocus collaborated with Indian Ocean to bring this documentary alive through their unique music composition.”

“The lyrics were inspired by the structure of the film script and mirrors its core ethos – why is the tiger core for humanity’s conservation efforts ? The logical flow of the story turned into the lyrics of the song. The tune came into my head with the words ‘Baagh Aayore’ even before I started on the lines. Once I started putting the lyrical sequence together, after a couple of reiterations, we were able to arrive at a simple and effective composition that celebrates the tiger and does justice to the story. ” Rahul Ram, music composer and bass guitarist for musical band Indian Ocean, concluded.
