Established by Mr. Viraf Chinoy, the third generation of a legacy that began in 1885, South Seas Distilleries has been a trailblazer in the world of fine spirits.
Mr. Viraf Chinoy paid tribute to the founder’s vision by establishing South Seas to produce fine malt spirits. Over the years, South Seas Distilleries has embraced cutting-edge technology, sourced top-of-the-line equipment from Stewart McBain Ltd, Scotland, and expanded its production capabilities. In 1999, small batches of rare single malts earned accolades from Master Distillers worldwide, marking a significant milestone for the distillery.
In 2005, the installation of India’s largest Copper Pot Stills for distillation allowed South Seas to capture the essence of raw ingredients, transforming them into refined spirits with distinctive profiles. The family’s bold step in 2007 involved constructing India’s largest maturation warehouse, despite the nascent market for single malts, demonstrating a passion for innovation.
