Hate the Disease, Not the Diseased!

Hyderabad, 1st December 2023: On the occasion of World AIDS Day this year, Kamineni Hospitals, LB Nagar, Hyderabad, organized an Awareness Walk with the aim to shatter the silence surrounding HIV/AIDS, reduce blame, and foster an environment of empathy and support for those impacted by the disease. HIV/AIDS is a common global health challenge that affects individuals from all walks of life, extending its impact beyond physical health to societal, economic, and emotional aspects.

The event, hosted by Kamineni Hospitals, received an overwhelming response from participants and supporters who walked hand-in-hand to raise awareness and show solidarity. General medicine doctors from Kamineni Hospitals, including Dr J. Harikishan, Dr Ratnachary, Dr Shyam Sunder, Dr Ramakrishna, Dr Suresh, and Dr Srikrishna, graced the occasion, sharing valuable insights on HIV/AIDS. Doctors from various departments, hospital staff, and the local public of LB Nagar participated in the event. Participants carried placards and banners with messages promoting empathy, education, and inclusivity.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Swamy M, Head of the Department (HOD) and Consultant General Medicine, Kamineni Hospitals, said, “Knowledge is our most potent weapon in this battle against HIV/AIDS. With the help of correct information, individuals can make informed decisions, understand the importance of regular screenings, and contribute to breaking down the barriers surrounding this disease. Globally, approximately 38 million people live with HIV. Awareness is the first step in reducing this number. Initiatives like the AIDS Awareness Walk not only dispel misconceptions but also foster understanding and compassion. Together, we can empower individuals to protect themselves and their communities from the impact of HIV/AIDS.”

Dr. K. Anjaiah, Medical Superintendent, KAMSRC, added, “Celebrating the strength of unity and the power of awareness, our AIDS Day Awareness Walk has illuminated the path towards a healthier future. As we move forward together, let us remember that knowledge is our greatest ally in the fight against HIV/AIDS. With each step, we move closer to a world where compassion prevails over stigma, and understanding triumphs over ignorance. Thank you for joining us in this meaningful journey.”

Kamineni Hospitals extends sincere gratitude to all participants, supporters, and collaborators for their commitment to creating a world without AIDS. The hospital looks forward to spearheading similar initiatives in the future in an effort to help eradicate this global health challenge.
