Mumbai, December 4, 2023: Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), one of the leading business schools in India, recently concluded the 13th edition of the International Conference on Management Cases (ICMC 2023) at the campus. This collaborative conference, organized by BIMTECH in partnership with the University of South Florida Muma College Of Business and the University of Eastern Finland, was a remarkable assembly of global minds committed to advancing management knowledge. The in-person conference, held from November 30 to December 2, 2023, brought together researchers and educators from world over.

BIMTECH, in collaboration with esteemed academic institutions, successfully organized 13th ICMC conference, featuring three keynote speeches, 60+ case presentations, Meet the Editors, Doctoral Colloquium, and Case Workshops. The conference witnessed the submission and presentation of research and teaching cases by scholars who added valuable perspectives to the discourse.

In the 13th ICMC conference, Distinguished keynote speakers at ICMC 2023 included Vivek Mehra, Founder CEO, Vikramshila Research & Former Chairperson, Sage Publications India, Dr. Esa Hiltunen, Senior Lecturer at the University of Eastern Finland; Dr. Tojo Thatchenkery, Professor and Director of the M.S. in Organizational Development at Schar School of Policy and Government, George Mason University, USA; and Prof H.M Jha, Professor and Former HoD, Shri Sant Gajanan Maharaj College of Engineering, Shegaon, shared their perspectives on diverse topics such as Unlocking the Art of Interviewing and Crafting Cases on Micro-entrepreneurs. While Dr. Tojo emphasized appreciative intelligence for a sustainable circular economy, Dr. Esa Hiltunen explored cultural influences on employee-driven innovation, delving into uncharted territory. Engaging discussions covered themes like Entrepreneurial Ecosystem, Venture Creation, Survival & Failure, Digitization, and Striving for Sustainability, Morality & Well-being, Finance & Innovation, Rural Development & Healthcare, and more.

In the conference, two books, “Case Studies on Leading and Strategizing for Organizations Across Contexts” & “Case Studies on Sustainability and Innovations Across Entrepreneurial and Other Contexts” were also released. Young Scholar awards, SAGE Best Case awards and the Case Centre awards were given away to deserving researchers. The 5th Case Master Development Workshop was conducted by Dr. Tojo, Dr. Esa Hiltunen and Dr. H M Jha, and online doctoral colloquium was also conducted.

Dr. AK Dey, Professor and Chairperson, Centre for Management Case Development, BIMTECH, envisioned a future of enriched learning through the case method, aiming to elevate educational experiences. He remarked, “The success of ICMC 2023 can be attributed to the dedication of participants, the insightful contributions of presenters, and the collaborative spirit that characterized the conference.
