WorkIndia’s New Feature Simplifies Job Search for Tier 3 and Tier 4 Blue-Collar Workers

National, 5th December 2023: Blue-collar job seekers encounter multiple challenges that often act as barriers to meaningful and sustainable employment. From the scarcity of job opportunities to geographical constraints, and traditional offline methods, the blue-collar workforce faces unique pain points that demand innovative solutions. WorkIndia, India’s leading blue collar tech-recruitment platform has launched a new feature aimed at addressing the challenges faced by job seekers in tier 3 and tier 4 cities.

This approach facilitates making the job search process more accessible and accommodating for candidates across diverse geographies. Recognizing that nearly 40% of the platform’s job seekers hail from smaller towns, WorkIndia plans to roll out this feature to over 570 Indian cities by the end of December.

The feature particularly benefits users in cities where the number of live jobs was previously less than 100 and candidates were heavily reliant on offline methods and referrals due to limited opportunities in their current location. It will now allow the workers to explore jobs in Tier 1 cities, make informed decisions about relocation or commuting, and secure the best-fit job.

According to the Employment Exchange Statistics 2023 report, Around 457.2 lakh job seekers were registered on the live register of employment exchanges in the country at the end of December 2022. By launching this feature, WorkIndia will enable Job seekers in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities access to job openings in the nearest metro cities such as Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, and Mumbai due to the advanced relevancy algorithm. A dedicated entry point within the app will allow candidates to easily navigate and locate jobs within their respective states, minimizing the search load for users.

What makes this feature even more impactful is the resounding support from employers. A noteworthy 40% of surveyed employers have expressed a strong preference for candidates from different locations. To keep job seekers informed and engaged, the feature ensures that users receive special notifications whenever new job opportunities arise in nearby metro cities or their respective states.

Contrary to previous assumptions, there is now a growing inclination among these candidates to explore job opportunities outside their immediate locations. Highlighting this shift, over 50% of candidates prioritize finding jobs related to their field and securing a higher salary. Location has become secondary for many candidates, driven by their awareness of the limited opportunities available in their hometowns and villages. Moreover, WorkIndia has also mapped major metro cities within a 100-kilometer range, ensuring that distance is not a concern for users.

Commenting on the same, Mr. Nilesh Dungarwal, CEO, WorkIndia said, “At WorkIndia, our mission has always been to empower every job seeker, regardless of their geographical location. With this groundbreaking feature, we aim to bridge the gap for candidates in Tier 3 and Tier 4 cities, providing them with a wider spectrum of opportunities and the freedom to choose the best-fit job. We believe in creating solutions that make a tangible impact on people’s lives, and this feature is a testament to our commitment to providing meaningful livelihoods to the blue collar workers of India.”

A female candidate from Salem shared her experience, having recently completed her graduation and actively pursuing HR or Finance opportunities. She expressed a preference for larger cities like Coimbatore, Chennai, and Bangalore over her hometown of Salem. The testimonial highlights the common awareness among candidates that opportunities may be limited in their hometowns.

The feature ensures a seamless process for job seekers, allowing them to explore jobs in their current city and nearby cities on the same page.
