Avaada Foundation announces a Blood Donation Drive in collaboration with Tata Hospital to address Mumbai’s Blood Shortage Crisis
Mumbai, 21st December’23: Avaada Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the Avaada Group, continues to make significant strides in its mission to uplift lives for the betterment of society and has announced a transfusion blood donation drive. This unique event is set to take place on December 27th, presenting a fresh and engaging approach to addressing the persistent blood shortage in Mumbai. The initiative serves a dual purpose – supporting Tata Hospital, Asia’s largest cancer care facility, and creating awareness about the critical need for blood donations.
In India, the demand for blood occurs every 2 seconds, with an annual requirement of 14.6 million units. Unfortunately, there exists a chronic shortage of 1 million units. Mumbai, facing a daily demand of 1000 units, needs help to meet 40% or more of this need. The situation intensifies during festive seasons, exacerbating the shortage.
At Avaada Group, we firmly believe in engaging with our community, and through Avaada Foundation, our focus is on a vision that transforms lives for the better. It’s more than just a blood drive; it’s about making a meaningful impact in our community, says Vineet Mittal, Chairperson, Avaada Group.
With a particular focus on engaging the youth, while concurrently raising awareness about the critical importance of regular blood donation. Scheduled for December 27th from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Avaada Foundation Office Premises in the lobby of Solaris One ( previously known as Hubtown). Attendees will have the opportunity to contribute to the blood donation drive, and actively participate in addressing the blood shortage crisis faced by Mumbai.
