Pioneering in the Industry of Branded Audio, Schbang’s Specialized Wing Adds Another Note to Its Resounding Achievements

Schbang, a Creative, Media, and Technology Transformation company, has consistently emerged as a trailblazer ceaselessly pushing the boundaries of innovation. Today, the spotlight gently illuminates the discreet triumph of ‘Daud,’ a captivating short film crafted under Schbang 808 that specializes in creating audioscapes for TVCs/DVCs produced by SMP, along with working on experiential audio campaigns and sonic branding.

Schbang 808, named after the influential Roland 808 drum machines of the 1980s, channels their enduring impact on global music into creating invisible yet impactful sonic enhancements for narratives and campaigns. Much like the ubiquitous sounds of the 808 in daily songs, ads, and films, Schbang 808 serves as the discreet element that elevates and refines storytelling experiences.

Engaging in both branded work and narrative content, Schbang 808, renowned for its critically acclaimed short film ‘Prahlad,’ which has amassed millions of views, extends its creative prowess to ‘Daud,’ its second scored film, while actively seeking compelling long-format narratives. ‘Daud’ stands as a significant achievement for Schbang 808, underscoring the agency’s dedication to reshaping industry standards and its unwavering commitment to creative excellence. As a specialized wing, Schbang 808 continuously sets new benchmarks in branded audio, showcasing a profound dedication to sonic brilliance.

In 2021, Schbang 808’s Head, Adith Anande, emerged as one of 12 global up-and-coming composers at Famlabs, a British Film Institute initiative. Following this recognition, Anande showcased his boundary-defying work, and he was later invited to present the live performance of the ‘Daud’ soundtrack at the Sensoria Festival in the U.K., alongside English woodwind players.

‘Daud’ has already garnered acclaim as an Official Selection in TEN major Film Festivals worldwide, including the JIO MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, the International Short Film Festival of India (ISFFI), SHORTED, and the Sensoria Music & Film Festival in the U.K.

The essence of the film gently unfolds, delicately exploring the tender journey of a young protagonist. Born into the shadows of tragedy, losing his mother during childbirth, his earliest memories are etched with the image of his father’s unwavering determination. Each dawn witnessed his father’s ascent up an imposing peak, a shared ritual that wove threads of resilience and connection. Yet, fate subtly altered their course when the son chose to forge a separate path, silently marking the last day he glimpsed his father. Guided by the enduring influence of his hero, the young boy quietly embarks on a quest to honour his father’s legacy. ‘Daud’ paints a nuanced narrative of bravery and triumph, portraying each day as an unspoken adventure where the protagonist bravely confronts his fears in this quietly innovative live-action/animation hybrid short.

Adith Anande – Head, Schbang 808 expressed, “Daud was an attempt to bridge the gap we saw in International film scores. A far-fetched experiment to show that we can produce international quality content right here from India, and we were glad to see such a positive response from not only India but across borders as well.”

He further added, “As Schbang continues to shape industry standards, ‘Daud’ stands as a testament to the agency’s ability to make waves not through noise but through impactful, refined achievements.”

Nihar Palwe – Director of Daud said,  “As a filmmaker, I’ve always been fascinated by the unique blend of Live Action and Animation in storytelling. My search for such narratives led me on a journey that inspired me to create Daud. We shot the film in my hometown, Manmad, and chose the famous Thumbs Up Mountain for its inherent authenticity. Daud is not just a short film; it’s a heartfelt exploration, a creative fusion that transcends boundaries. Our creation is a testament to the power of storytelling, marrying live-action elements with the magic of animation.”
