A Media Conclave named “Media Manthan” is being organized by the Department of Mass Communication of S K Somaiya College on 22nd and 23rd February, 2024. The event is structured for addressing one of the most impactful and often overlooked problem of misinformation in today’s fast paced society. The goal for this event is to create an awareness in the upcoming generation of media professionals and make them capable to differentiate between legitimate and fake content. 
The event is given the tagline of “Where Ideas Strive and The Future Thrives”. It is organized under “Sanchar Manch”, the media body of Department of Mass Communication of S K Somaiya College. Media Literacy does the job similar to North Star, it guides and helps everyone following it navigate. The skill of differentiating between real and fake information is a must in this digital time and we can create awareness about it, once we know the ins-and-outs of it and this event serves this exact purpose. 
The Media Conclave is not just a place to have a talk with the media professionals and listen to their first-hand experience, but it’s also a place to understand what it is to become a careful and conscious media consumer which will help us to make more informed decisions in every aspect of media ranging from the traditional news to the new media bought in by social media platforms. 
The six interactive sessions during the event will be led by industry professionals such as Mr. Bhuvendra Tyagi, Mr. Abhishek Chaudhary, Dr. Harish Shetty, Dr. Sanjay Ranade, Mr. Prasad Sangameshwaran, Ms. Benita Bhatia, and Prof. Issac Jacob. Along with them will be a multi-talented panel of other panel members including PhD Scholars, Screenwriters, Journalists and others, covering every aspect of media industry and having something of value for everyone attending the sessions.
Somaiya Vidyavihar University works tirelessly for creating a more inclusive and conductive society. The Department of Mass Media, SK Somaiya College, Somaiya Vidyavihar University is one of the well -known departments in the field of Media & Communication Studies. Through the panel discussions in the event, the students will experience a more interactive and experiential learning which will foster soft skills such as creative liberty, critical thinking and others which are necessary for growing as a professional in the media industry.
