Rayalaseema Kings went down by 6 wickets to Uttarandhra Lions in the Qualifier 1 of the Andhra Premier League today at the Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy ACA–VDCA Cricket Stadium in Vizag today.
The match kicked off with the Kings struggling to put up a competitive score, managing only 130 runs. Vamsi Krishna put up a gritty performance, scoring 35 runs off 34 balls, while Shaik Kamaruddin dazzled with a quickfire 21 off just 10 balls. However, their efforts were not enough to set a formidable target, leaving the door wide open for the Lions.
The Uttarandhra Lions seized the opportunity with both hands. Their wicketkeeper-batsman Sanaboyina Tarun delivered a masterclass, smashing 60 runs from 55 balls with flair and finesse. Pinninti Tapasvi’s explosive 34 off 20 balls further bolstered their innings, and Seeram Rahul’s steady 12 off 12 balls and in the end came Dheeraj Kumar with a cameo of 13 runs from only 03 balls ensured they cruised to victory.
The bowling of the Kings was not on the spot today given the total they were defending with lots of missed chances. Penmetsa Raju, Mohammad Rafi each took one wicket. Shaik Kamaruddin took two wickets but that was not enough to stop the Lions.
