India, 18th December, 2024: The flagship event of MDI Gurgaon, Delphiquе’24, concluded with grandeur and purpose on December 15, leaving an indelible mark on both the academic and cultural spheres. The two-day extravaganza showcased a dynamic mix of intellectual debates, creative performances, and inspirational speaker sessions, with the overarching purpose of fostering knowledge exchange and celebrating creativity. The event is conducted under the guidance of Dean-Graduate Programmes Prof. Avinash Kapoor and Student Affairs-Chairperson Prof. Vidhu Gaur.
The event kicked off on December 14 with the Model United Nations (MUN) where delegates engaged in meaningful debates on pressing global topics such as Israeli settlements and cooperative federalism in India, followed by Cerebro – The Case Study Competition, sponsored by Union Bank of India which focused on innovative solutions to enhance banking penetration in rural India. Both events set the tone for intellectual rigor and strategic thinking. The event is conducted under the guidance of Dean-Graduate Programmes Prof. Avinash Kapoor and Student Affairs-Chairperson Prof. Vidhu Gaur.
The highlight of the day was an inspiring session by Ms. Vineeta Singh, Co-founder & CEO of SUGAR Cosmetics and Shark Tank India judge. Drawing from her personal journey, she spoke passionately about perseverance, innovation, and dreaming big amidst challenges. Vineeta motivated the crowd with her authority, adaptability, and innovative ideas and practical advice for their career and entrepreneurial endeavors by highlighting the value of strategic thought and flexibility in creating a globally known brand.
Reflecting on her experience, Vineeta remarked, “Speaking at Delphique 2024 was an invigorating experience, and I was truly inspired by the energy in the room- especially seeing so many aspiring women in the audience. It’s clear that MDI is nurturing the next generation of visionary CEOs and founders, and I can’t wait to see the incredible milestones they will achieve”
Following the session, Dr. Vidhu Gaur, Chairperson, Student Affairs Committee, delivered a heartfelt vote of thanks, expressing her deep gratitude to all those who made Delphique 2024 possible, starting with Prof Arvind Sahay, Director, for his vision and unwavering support, and Prof Avinash Kapoor for his steadfast guidance. Acknowledging the unwavering enthusiasm of the students, she remarked, “Our students are the heart of this event; their energy and dedication make everything possible.” She extended gratitude to the faculty members whose behind-the-scenes dedication and commitment were invaluable in orchestrating the event. Concluding on a note of appreciation, Dr. Gaur expressed heartfelt thanks to Ms. Vineeta Singh, emphasizing how her inspiring session had truly elevated the spirit and energy of the day.
On December 15, the momentum continued with Vincenza, an entrepreneurship challenge where budding business leaders presented innovative ideas to venture capitalists from Habits, Crest Innovations, and SquareDC, with top teams receiving valuable mentorship and incubation opportunities.
The day’s centerpiece was a Panel Discussion on the theme, “Changing Paradigms of Business: Intersection of Public Policy, Technology, Environment, and Society.” Esteemed panelists, including Hemant Batra, Global Legal Expert and Consulting Lead at Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas; Abha Mehta, Director, Corporate Banking Operations at Barclays; and Vineeta Hariharan, Public Policy Leader and Strategic Advisor, offered diverse perspectives on how societal expectations, technological advancements, and legal frameworks are reshaping modern business practices.
Following this, the Debate Competition showcased participants’ analytical and persuasive abilities, tackling contemporary issues with eloquence. Reflecting on the significance of the competition, Prof Sahay remarked, “Debate is the lifeblood of a democratic society. In a world where reasoned discourse is becoming increasingly rare, nurturing the art of informed debate is essential for fostering understanding and collaboration among diverse perspectives.”
The event culminated in a celebration of talent and creativity with mesmerizing cultural performances by S2S and Mandolins, a hilarious stand-up act by Jaspreet Singh, and an electrifying DJ Night that brought the entire campus together to celebrate the success of Delphique 2024.
MDI Gurgaon’s heritage of encouraging academic brilliance, creative thinking, and cultural enrichment was effectively preserved by Delphique 2024. The event’s subject matter, “Changing Paradigms in Business,” struck a chord with attendees, encouraging them to question established ideas, welcome new ideas, and lead with intention in the continually shifting corporate landscape of the present day.
