Ambuja Foundation partners with Hero MotoCorp to Empower Rural Women in Chhindwara with Skill Development for Sustainable Employment

New Delhi, 20th December 2024 – In a significant step towards fostering financial independence among rural and tribal women, Ambuja Foundation successfully trained 30 women from Chhindwara district, Madhya Pradesh, in electric vehicle (EV) training under its Skill & Entrepreneurship Development Institute (SEDI) program. Supported by the Automotive Skills Development Council (ASDC) and Hero Motocorp Ltd, the trained candidates have secured employment with leading automotive companies such as Hero Motocorp, Tata Motors, and Chetak Electrical Vehicle Showrooms.

This initiative was aimed at addressing long-standing unemployment issues in the region. A key focus was encouraging women to participate in electric vehicle (EV) training, preparing them for a rapidly growing sector that has traditionally been male-dominated.

The partnership, which spans 2024-2025, will primarily target the economic empowerment of rural women in Chhindwara by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities. The 30 women enrolled in the Electric Vehicle Training Program were equipped with essential technical skills and hands-on training to become job-ready for the evolving automotive industry. The initiative also emphasized holistic development, offering modules on basic computer knowledge, soft skills, and workplace safety.

Additionally, the program included sessions with industry experts, guest lecturers, industrial exposure visits, and workshops on road safety, emergency response, the usage of personal protective equipment (PPE), and health guidelines to ensure well-rounded skill development.

Pear Tiwari, CEO of Ambuja Foundation, commented on the success of the program, saying, “This initiative, in collaboration with Hero Motocorp, exemplifies our shared vision to empower underserved communities by tackling barriers to livelihood via high quality skill training and placement. Skill training plays a pivotal role in Ambuja Foundation’s broader development program, meeting both individual aspirations of rural youth and the growing demands of the industrial sector. By equipping young women with vital skills, this program not only helps uplift their families but also contributes to the economic progress of these underserved regions, creating a sustainable model for development.”

With the success of this initiative, Ambuja Foundation continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering women and driving economic change in rural India. The program not only opens new avenues of employment but also paves the way for a more inclusive and diverse workforce in the rapidly growing electric vehicle sector.
