The HDFC chief Mr. Aditya Puri says that he is keen to work on Digital Transformation after the HDFC Bank stint. Mr. Puri says in a webinar that he wants to be involved in education, health, and digital transformation across a wider spectrum and he wants to enjoy himself.
On Thursday (27.08.2020), HDFC bank chief Aditya Puri left everyone wondering about his plans after retirement. He says that he is interested in the digital transformations taking place in the economy in this era.
When he is askedthat why he excludes the possibility of doing something in finance, Puri, who has been credited with leading HDFC Bank as the largest private sector lender for a 25-year journey since its establishment, replied, “Finance and technology are now the same.”
Mr. Aditya Puri retires on 26th October 2020. He says that after retirement he wants to be involved in the development of the economy’s future health, education, and digital transformations. Thus, he can extend his support and involvement in the overall development of the economy.
When he was asked that if he had done anything different in the last 25 years. Puri said the team had a ball building the bank and will do it the same way because “nothing speaks like success.” Puri also said there would be some changes in the way banking operations are performed in the future, but made it clear that branches are here to stay amid the rise in digital alternatives.
We have to remember that the Indian market is a diverse market. Some of them just want to come to a branch, particularly as we travel to semi-urban and rural areas and the elderly.
SBI Chairman Rajnish Kumar, who also spoke at the webinar, said it’s going to be a digital environment, but branch functions are going to be crucial. Kumar said he wants to spend time with his grandchildren and read after a four-decade stay, once he leaves SBI.He is expected to retire in October, though there is also talk that he could be extended.
