Dec 25, 2012: Kaccha Mango Bite a product extension of Mango Bite which was launched in 2004 has been involved in a legal tangle for the use of lactic acid. In October, FDA had carried out raids in Parle Biscuits manufacturing units and confiscated stocks of ‘Kaccha Mango Bite’ citing that the product contained lactic acid which was not fit for consumption. The company presented in front of the court that several food items like tomato ketchup, garlic paste, processed cheese and onion pastes which are products of daily consumption has got lactic acid as one of the ingredients. The court ruled that lactic acid is safe for consumption in hard boiled candies.
