Jan 4, 2013: In what can be termed as a revolutionary service, Bharti Airtel launched mEducation Services for its subscribers. This mobile based education services will help Airtel customers in career counselling and prepare for competitive examinations. The 185 million customers can also have access to English Learning courses.
If this experiment succeeds it would be a great help to people who don’t have access even to formal education. More of Mobile technology can be used to reach the masses that are looking for education. The mEducation services which would be offered via IVR and SMS will be charged at a minimum of Rs. 1.5 to Rs. 10 per day depending on the type of service. Airtel will also offer regular assessment tests as part of their service and subscribers preparing for competitive exams like UPSC and all can attend mock tests on their mobile at Rs.99 for 12 mock tests.
