Jan 20, 2013: Wipro which saw increase in its revenues by 17% in the third quarter ended December 2012 is set to launch its own body lotions and shampoo under the brand name Santoor. The category which is estimated to be Rs.4500 crore is highly competitive many top brands vying for a share of pie. The market leader in this category is HUL with more than 50% market share.
The company which test marketed its products last month will be launching it in the first quarter of 2013. It needs to be seen how Wipro would be making a mark in this field which is dominated by HUL, P&G, LOreal etc. especially when the margins have come down due to increased spending on promotions and advertisements. It is expected that Wipro would face the tide positively since its brand Santoor has witnessed a growth of over 20% in recent months.
