Feb 13, 2013: Fertilisers which were available only in conventional bags of 50 kg will now be available in smaller packs of 5kg and 10kg. In a recent move, the Fertiliser Ministry has given the nod to sell non-urea and complex fertilisers in smaller packs. From now on farmers will be able to buy fertilisers like Muriate of Potash and di-ammonium phosphate in 25kg and 40kg packs as well. In recent times there has been a sharp decline in consumption and sale of fertilisers because of skyrocketing prices.
This move of Finance Ministry is expected to arrest the imbalance of production and consumption to certain extent and thereby stabilise sales. Availability of fertilisers in small packs is also expected to help the farmers in low consumption and in accessible areas to buy and use the same to increase the farm yield.
