Heeru Dingra, CEO of the Isobar India group, will assume this role, backed by business executives Ajit Devraj, Indrajeet Mookerjee, and Harsh shah. Webchutney was co-founded by Sidharth Rao in 1999, and Dentsu purchased it in 2013, setting the path for Rao’s decade-long tenure as CEO of the agency-holding network. Rao was appointed CEO of the dentsuMB Group India in June 2021. Prior to then, he served as chairman of denstu creative agency Happy mcgarrybowen from January 2020 until January 2021.

“Sid is not just a coworker,” stated Amit Wadhwa, CEO of Dentsu Creative India, in a statement. He’s also a close buddy and our go-to guy. He has been essential in shaping Dentsu’s creative journey for India in collaboration with some of our key talents who have since evolved into formidable leaders, which is priceless. However, “when he chose to talk to me about his new entrepreneurial objectives, I recognized how serious he was about it.”

“On his next step, Sid has my full backing. Meanwhile, the amazing group of leaders he has mentored during this growth journey gives me great confidence. They’ve already taken over and are delivering with assurance. Although I will miss keeping up with Sid at work, our banter will continue outside of the workplace. He has earned the right to choose a new path for his next milestone, and I am confident that his next business will be unique. We sincerely wish him the best of luck as he takes this next significant step.”

“Being bought by Densu has, by far, been the most crucial milestone in Webchutney’s journey,” said Sidharth Rao in the statement. It’s been an incredible journey. Densu India and Webchutney are well ahead of where we started, and we have no regrets. I’ve been with the network for almost a decade after the acquisition, and the network’s executive team deserves credit for my success. Amit is a superb leader and teammate. He is in charge of ensuring that we have the finest possible opportunities.

As I go forward, I’m delighted that Dentsu Webchutney is at its peak, and I’ll take with me a sense of enormous satisfaction in being affiliated with Dentsu. For the rest of my voyage, I’m experimenting with a few new concepts in the amazing world of the internet. Over the next few months, we should have a plan in place.” Rao’s resignation is the latest in a long line of senior executives, including the CEO and agency heads, who left Dentsu India in 2021 in a “wave” of departures.
