The Trent (retail arm of Tata Group) Subsidiary, Westland, is writing a new chapter by opting to sell its top selling books in the Café Coffee Day outlets in Chennai. The publishing company has entered an agreement with Café Coffee Day to sell books at its premises. With this, people coming to CCD can have the aroma of CCD’s popular coffee along with a tinge of knowledge.

The publishing company is soaring high with its success in selling books of Amish Tripathi’s Oath of the Vayuputras and is now trying new ways to sell its books. The company is planning a step further to reach spas and salons. Westland is trying to penetrate into branded salons such as Lakme. The salons already feature magazines for the women folk coming there and books can also become a part of the salons, feels the company.

Apart from CCDs, salons and spas, Westland is also targeting the Tata Group owned outlets such as Croma, Westside, StarBazaar etc. The company is also planning joint promotions for e-books with Croma. Westland has already entered the departmental stores of Westside to sell its famous Shiva Trilogy.

The counters that are to be set up by the company in bigger hypermarkets may cover a large area. Other retail outlets of the Tata Group such as Titan and Tanishq may also soon sell Westland books.

e-books are gaining popularity these days, but this in no way affects the publisher and Westland books are still confident about their future. Even though the sale of books through online is soaring high, there is still demand for retail book sales. The company now hopes to tap the potential of Indian authors and make it big in the publishing industry.
