In the movie Fast and Furious 7 there’s a scene where a genius hacker uses a technology known as god’s eye that uses an advanced Artificial Intelligence to track the villain. The AI uses all electronic devices from traffic cameras to mobile phone cameras to track the movement of the villain using just his face as a reference point.

Seems like something absurd isn’t it! But is it really that absurd? The technology to achieve such is available for us today. But using people’s cell phones for surveillance will definitely cause some lawsuits popping up in front of the law enforcement door step, the use of Artificial Intelligence for law enforcement is highly plausible and achievable.

AI and Law Enforcement

The use of AI for law enforcement will be the next step to make a better and safer tomorrow. Using Artificial Intelligence not only makes law enforcement efficient but also more effective and will make it susceptible to fewer errors. AI algorithms can be also used to predict crime and prevent it from happening. Imagine a previous sex offender is seen in the traffic cams stalking a woman. AI algorithms used by law enforcement will scan the person’s face and compare it with previous sex offenders and if there is any match the officers close to the vicinity can be informed. Since all of the information is connected to one another all that information can be analyzed efficiently and effectively without any error of judgment or time delay.

Reporting and Preventing Crimes and Accidents

It is found that when a crime is committed it may not be registered or complained to the authorities. The victim may be coerced. Or let us imagine an accident. It usually takes some time for people to inform the necessary institutions. What if we can avoid all of this time delay and coercion? It is possible as traffic cams and other surveillance systems like unmanned drones when connected to a centralized AI system can report crimes efficiently and also alert the necessary services in case of accidents.

Solving Crimes and Passing Judgments

Artificial Intelligence can be used to help solve crimes by carefully analyzing the crime scene through photos and creating any links to previous crimes or flag anything that is suspicious and could have missed the eyes of the investigators. Judgments made by judges can also be helped by Artificial Intelligence by giving judges the previous criminal records of the criminal, whether he/she is a repeated offender or not. Thus helping judges pass fair judgment will not be coerced or we can use AI to replace judges to have an error-free judgment.
