A shift in work model in companies

After the pandemic, there has been a shift in the expectations of employees. First of all, the companies are facing a mass resignation situation currently.

As they are trying to retain talent, they are facing new conditional demands from the employees.

Employees are now asking for more WFH (work from home) options or a hybrid option. They are demanding flexible work hours. This demand has been due to many reasons. First of all, this work model enables employees to easily manage personal and professional life.

The WFH model also helps the employees in avoiding the exertion of traffic jams. They remain safe from the daily commute issues and are available for more hours. But the companies do face some issues in these cases. They are sometimes not sure about the productivity of the employees. The companies also do keep an eye on the activity of the employees during work hours. It creates an issue of privacy for the employees.

Many companies are a bit confused about the reliability of the hybrid work model. Such companies try to stick to the older offline work schedule.

The new model of workspace is also pushing the companies to adopt the changes. But it also gives them an advantage. Now, they plan to hire people at a lesser pay due to the decreased expenditure of the employees. It is also due to less dependency on the physical assets and property of the company. This in return, allows the company to save some money for investment purposes.

The new start-ups of recent times are easily adopting the new work model. But this is not the case with the big companies. They already have a lot of properties related to their workspace area. They can’t afford to lose all those in a few days.

So in the future, companies will be working in the new schedule. It will especially give an advantage to companies who want different employees working two shifts. The people working the night shift will have fewer issues with the commute to the workplace.

These changes will be having a long-lasting effect on the progress of a country like India. It will slow down the progress for some time until the work model changes. After the shift, the economy will stabilize.
