Aadhaar PVC card purchased in the open market is not valid

Because of the lack of security protections, the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has severely opposed the use of PVC Aadhaar replicas purchased on the open market.

UIDAI declared in a message on its official Twitter account: We highly oppose the use of it since they lack security protections. You can order an Aadhaar PVC Card for Rs 50. (inclusive of GST & Speed post charges). Prints of PVC cards, plastic cards, or Aadhaar smart cards purchased on the street are not valid.

Aadhaar PVC Card: What Is It?

The PVC-based Aadhaar Card includes a digitally signed secure QR code with a photograph and demographic information, as well as other security features. Aadhaar PVC Cards are sent to residents’ addresses via rapid mail.

How can I get a PVC card for my Aadhaar number?

Aadhaar cardholders can use the UIDAI Official Website or the Resident Portal to request an “Aadhaar PVC Card.” Here are some easy steps to take:

Step 1: Go to https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/ Step 2: Select “Order Aadhaar PVC Card” from the drop-down menu.

Step 3: Enter your Aadhaar number (UID) or Enrollment ID (28 digits).

Please bear in mind that while your EID is being processed, you will not be able to request a card. Fill in the security code if prompted. Enter the one-time password (OTP) that was texted to your registered phone.

Step 4: Select “Terms and Conditions” from the drop-down menu. (Note: To see more information, click on the hyperlink.)

Step 5: To complete OTP verification, click the “Submit” button.

Note that only the authenticated area of the Aadhaar can be viewed.

Step 6: Select “Payment” from the drop-down menu.

You will be redirected to a Payment Gateway page with credit/debit cards, net banking, and UPI payment options.

Step 7: Make a payment using the appropriate method.

Residents will receive a receipt with a digital signature after making a successful payment, which they can download in PDF format.

Residents will also receive an SMS with the Service Request Number. Residents can check the status of their SRNs on Check Aadhaar Card Status till their Aadhaar cards arrive. SMS with the AWB number will be sent once the package has been despatched from DoP.

What is the procedure for checking the status of an Aadhaar PVC card?

On www.uidai.gov.in, you can check the status of your Aadhaar PVC card by going to the ‘My Aadhaar’ option. Under ‘My Aadhaar,’ select ‘Check Aadhaar PVC card status.’ On the new screen, you’ll need to enter your 28-digit SRN, 12-digit Aadhaar number, and captcha code. The current status will be displayed after clicking ‘Check Status.’

How long will the Aadhaar PVC card take to arrive?

According to the UIDAI FAQ, UIDAI provides the printed Aadhaar Card to the Department of Population within 5 working days after receiving a request for an Aadhaar PVC Card from a person.
