Adani Kattupalli Port in association with Adani Foundation to set up a Community Hall at Sattankuppam village

Providing adequate basic infrastructure facilities for the fisherman community

Chennai: 21st September, 2023: Adani Kattupalli Port in association with Adani Foundation, has laid the foundation stone for a Community Hall at Sattankuppam village in the Thangal Perumbulam panchayat area. The initiative will provide adequate basic infrastructure facilities to conduct social & family functions for around 480 families living in the vicinity. The foundation stone and the Bhoomi Pooja was done by Mr. Sudip Dasgupta, CEO – Adani Kattupalli & Ennore Port in the presence of the community members, traditional leaders, and panchayat administration. Adani Kattupalli is committed to developing the community and society, and this initiative is to help the under privileged.

The village is around 5km from the mainland. It does not have proper access through roadways, especially during the monsoon, village is inundated by the waters from Kosasthalaiyar River and Buckingham Canal making it totally inaccessible. During the other times of the year travelling down to the mainland for a family function would mean incurring heavy expenditure in travel. The panchayat leaders of Sattankuppam requested Adani Kattupalli Port to construct a community hall understanding the need of the community. Adani Kattupalli Port came forward to build the community hall as a part of their CSR programs.

Speaking on the occasion Adani Kattupalli management said, “This initiative is a progressive step undertaken by Adani Kattupalli Port as part of its community welfare initiative. The port had received representation from Sattankuppam village for setting up a community centre within their village. This centre will provide the right facilities to local people to organise social and personal events without facing the trouble of travelling. We are extremely delighted to be a part of the village growth & happiness.”
