March 12, 2025: Air India Express has reached a major milestone by introducing its 100th aircraft, a Boeing 737-8, marking a significant step in its expansion. This new addition strengthens the airline’s growing fleet and celebrates India’s rich heritage with Chittara art, a traditional painting style from Karnataka’s Deewaru community, symbolising prosperity and culture.
The aircraft was officially flagged off at Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport, the airline’s largest hub, further strengthening its commitment to connecting emerging economic centres. With over 445 weekly flights from Bengaluru, Air India Express continues to expand its domestic and international presence.
Following its unveiling, the aircraft commenced service on the Bengaluru–Hindon route, making Air India Express the only airline to connect two airports in Delhi NCR. Air India Express has nearly doubled its fleet in just two years since joining the Tata Group in January 2022, from 26 Boeing 737 NGs and 28 Airbus A320s to 100 aircraft, enabling expansion to 54 destinations across India, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
Aloke Singh, Managing Director of Air India Express, reflected on this achievement, stating, “The induction of our 100th aircraft marks a defining moment in our transformation journey. Over the past three years, we have successfully integrated operations, expanded our fleet, and strengthened our domestic and international networks, particularly in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, which are becoming key economic hubs.”
Beyond fleet expansion, Air India Express is enhancing the passenger experience with premium yet affordable offerings. Travellers can enjoy features like ‘Gourmair’ hot meals, Xpress Biz seating, an upgraded loyalty program, and XpressHolidays. The airline’s ‘Fly As You Are’ philosophy ensures flexibility, including the XpressLite fare for passengers with only cabin baggage.
With a growing network, modernised fleet, and passenger-first approach, Air India Express is positioning itself as a key player in India’s aviation sector. As the airline expands, it remains committed to affordability, accessibility, and celebrating India’s artistic legacy.
