Airtel 4G smartphones to be launched in India for Rs.4000: Reports

If reports are to believed Airtel 4G Smartphones are soon to be launched in India for Rs.4000 to counter Reliance Jio. The low cost bundled handsets are planned to be launched in the month of October-November. Reports also suggest that negotiations are on by Bharti Airtel to finalise if it would be Airtel branded handset or co branded handsets. Efforts are on by the company to finalise the vendors as well. The company which got license to launch 4G services has started launching it in a phased manner. 4G services have been launched by Airtel in Bengaluru, Pune, Patiala and Nagpur among others

Media reports suggest that Airtel is in talks with Taiwan based Foxconn and some other Chinese vendors to launch Airtel 4G smartphones. This development comes close on the heels of ambitious plans of Mukesh Ambani to roll out Reliance Jio Infocomm and launch affordable 4G smartphones to people. Mukesh has tried this successfully earlier with Rs.501 scheme when Reliance launched its mobile services in 2003. This is the second time Mukesh is planning to enter the telecom space. Airtel 4G Smartphones are touted to support both FDD and TDD LTE network.
