Airtel Appathon Aimed to Enhance Smartphone Experience Kicks Off

India’s largest mobile operator, Bharti Airtel is organizing an Appathon dubbed Smartphone Build. This is aimed to bring 20 application developers or providers such as Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart to a common platform that will enhance their product network performance that will in turn improve the smartphone experience.

The 20 companies that will be taking part in this Smartphone Build appathon include Makemytrip, Yatra, ITCTC, Taxiforsure, Cleartrip, Redbus, Vuclip and Bookmyshow among others revealed Airtel.

Regarding this, Airtel’s Chief Product Officer, Anand Chandrasekaran claimed that they at Airtel have done several 3G sites and 4G networks and network optimization. Also, the service providers carried out integration with Samsung and Android One smartphones. Now, it has reached out to the leading developers and app providers to help them in integrating their services with Airtel’s network in order to make the end consumer experience better.

This imitative is a part of Bharti Airtel’s strategy to transform itself into a firm that is build on and for a smartphone network as it will rise its pricier data revenue. As a part of this move, the service provider is assisting those companies that participate in the Smartphone Build Appathon to optimize their applications for better battery, network and usability as it will enhance the over app performance.

The Appathon is organized at NEC (Network Experience Center) located in Manesar, Haryana where the firm has crated a simulated environment for 2G, 3G and 4G mobile networks for the app providers. On the second day of the appathon event, numerous benchmarking tests will be run across the various usage scenarios and after all these tests, Airtel experts will share their feedback with the app developers who then try to enhance their apps based on the feedback.

Following this, the applications will once again be put through simulations to test if they were subject to significant improvements after the feedback regarding the applications’ performance was provided.
