India’s native OTT platform ALTBalaji planning to expand beyond the borders into Nepal with Telenet Pvt Ltd for promotion and distribution. This collaboration serves as a bridge into hitherto untouched demographics.

Telenet will work on closing the gap between local billing channels such as digital wallets, telecom carriers, and payment gateways. The platform offers over 89 Indian originals to choose from to viewers.

This partnership will provide a new user base for ALTBalaji shows, which were previously inaccessible to many owing to a variety of factors. Telenet Pvt Ltd, a local company in the area, is an official distributor-reseller of ALTBalaji app memberships, allowing people to view all originals, web series, movies, and other content on the platform without disturbance.

Users can create five profiles with a single subscription and access the content on mobile devices, laptops, smart TVs, and android boxes for a big-screen experience. In addition, all users in Nepal can go to www.gfsarena.com to activate or renew their memberships instantly, using digital wallets like eSewa, IME Pay, and Khalti.

In the first half of FY22, the OTT, which is known for shows like Apharan and Married Woman, among others, added nine new shows, bringing the total collection to 87. Punchh Beat Season 2, Broken but Beautiful 3 and Cartel were among the new releases in the first half of FY22.

During the first half of FY22, the company sold 2.9 million subscriptions and has a direct subscriber base of over 1.45 million. The streaming platform sold 4.7 million memberships in FY21, generating Rs 54 crore indirect subscription revenue, compared to 3.4 million subscribers and Rs 37 crore in FY20.

This was the largest membership growth since the platform’s introduction four years ago, according to Shobha Kapoor, Managing Director of Balaji Telefilms Limited.

ALTBalaji has made people rush to the platform for their daily dose of entertainment, with over 89 Indian blockbuster originals. To respond to the greater choice of the audience, the content library has content from all genres.
