Jan 2, 2012: The year 2012 witnessed an increase in number of downloads of mobile apps, as people started using more of apps for day to day tasks. As the use of tabs and smartphones increased there was an increase of 35 per cent in usage of mobile applications in 2012 over last year. Among the apps which were downloaded the most were Angry Birds, Instagram and Facebook. An increasing trend was observed in 2012 as well, wherein people were downloading apps like Uber and Hailo, which allows users to book hotels and taxis for day to day purpose. The other apps which were widely downloaded for iPhne and Android included LetterPress, ScrambleWithFriends, the game “Draw Something”, Songza- a music discover app, Paper- a sketchbook app and payment apps like Square.
