AnitaB.org, a non-profit group that works to help women in technology get ahead, has named Puja Issar as the Managing Director for India, starting in June 2022. Puja will be in charge of the organization’s strategic growth and its overall mission and vision. She will do this by leading efforts and programs to help women in technology in the region get ahead in their careers.

Puja Issar has worked in the business for more than twenty years in the UK, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia. Before joining AnitaB.org, she was a key leader at several top companies, including the Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays Wealth Management, CARE International, Save the Children, and many others.

In her role as Managing Director, Puja will be in charge of projects, programs, and initiatives to help women in technology in India. Over the next three years, Puja wants to expand the organization’s reach across the country, set up places where people can talk about how important it is to get more women into technology and build a community where women in science and technology can find support.

Since it started, the AnitaB.org community has grown and changed to become the most important group for women in technology. Today, AnitaB.org works with women technologists in more than 50 countries and has partnerships with top academic institutions and Fortune 500 companies.

AnitaB.org did a global study and found that 34% of the technology workforce is made up of women. The goal of the organization is to get this number to 50–51% around the world. In India, the organization has done several things to help more women get jobs in techs, such as code-a-thons in tier 2 and tier 3 cities, executive meetups and roundtable discussions, hiring drives for corporations that only hire women, and much more. AnitaB.org acts as a middleman, helping businesses hire and keep more women on staff and giving tech-savvy women in India access to job opportunities.

Brenda Darden Wilkerson, the President, and CEO of AnitaB.org, said, “Our vision is that the people who think of and make technology will be like the people it is made for. Our goal is to connect, inspire, and guide women in computing and organizations that see technology innovation as a strategic imperative. I’m happy that Puja Issar is in charge of India. Under her leadership, I think the organization will do a lot to help more women in India get jobs in technology.

Puja Issar, who is the Managing Director of AnitaB.org India, said, “I’ve always thought that everyone should have the same chances in life, no matter their gender, social status, or background. Being a part of AnitaB.org lets me act on this belief and help make a difference for the better. My goal is to make a big difference in getting more women to work in the technology industry in India.
