After much anticipation and speculation, the Apple MacBook with Retina display has been launched officially. This brand new MacBook is super slim resembling MacBook Air. It has a completely different device with the slimmest ever design in MacBooks.

Despite being unbelievably thin at 13.1 mm, the MacBook is also 2 pounds lesser in weight. This pushes it is a new category of MacBooks that are thin and lightweight as well.

The new MacBook comes with a display of 12 inches that carry a screen resolution of 2304×1400 pixels that takes to somewhere close to the Air. This is the most important upgrade of the device as it uses Retina Display as well. The device comes in Gold, Silver and Space Gray color variants. Of these, the Gold model is very nice and not gaudy.

At the left side, the MacBook has all the ports including the single USB C port, DisplayPort, Power, HDMI, and VGA all in one connector. This one port is also everything and this is the future of notebooks whereas the headphone jack is the only one to be on the right.

The new keyboard on the MacBook stretches from edge-to-edge and includes a new mechanism called “Butterfly.” It is 40 percent thinner than the usual keyboards, and it evenly distributes the pressure on a single key unlike the customary “scissor” mechanism. The trackpad is called Force Touch and it is reinvented. It need not be clicked, but there are four force sensors in each corner and software manages the click feel. This way, MacBook can have pressure sensitivity. The MacBook uses a 1.3 GHz dual core Intel Core M Broadwell processor that requires no fan to keep the device cool. Also, the battery life is claimed to be extended to provide nine hours of web browsing or 10 hours of video playback.

Other aspects of the MacBook include Intel HD graphics 5300, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 8 GB of RAM, 256 GB and 512 GB of SSD storage priced at $1,299 and $1,599 respectively. The MacBooks will go on sale from April 10 in select markets.
