Drawing a thin line between the real and virtual!

What is it?

AR is a technology that would take an image generated by a computer and superimpose it to the user in his/her view of the real world out there. The main motive of augmented reality is to make a system where the uses wouldn’t be able to the exact difference between the real world and the virtual world. As of today, augmented reality is been used in almost all industry engineering, robotics, military for training and entertainment industry like virtual reality shows, virtual gaming etc.

How it works?

Augmented reality technology is a new kind of technology that is being installed in many of the gadgets by many brands like Apple, LG which uses the existing reality along with the physical objects in the surrounding to trigger the images that the computer would generate with real-time top reality. These images generated by the computer would be shown as 3D models or videos from real experience.

A device that uses AR:

Various handheld devices, optical systems used for projection, and monitors or displays. An HMD-head-mounted display is a headband google or glasses kind of a device to be worn on the forehead. This is where virtual reality takes place.

Requirements of AR:

The main two functions of an AR would be processing and projection. Basic requirements of an AR device would be cameras, sensors, digital compass, accelerometer, GPS, display and a CPU.

Advantages:

Augmented reality could be applied to any field and to all levels of knowledge. The most important and significant use of an AR would in the area of skills and training where the skills could be improved by giving good training through these virtual reality devices. Could reduce costs and risks by checking and testing the product or project first through AR.

Disadvantages:

Privacy lacking is the biggest problem currently that AR faces. Low-performance levels of these devices could end up being bad during the testing. It could also some serious mental health issues at times. Production is expensive to create. Difficult to maintain.

Information overload and thus augmenting without any permission.

But AR has real good scope in the future world where everything is getting digitized as this could provide much usefulness in the area of architecture, e-commerce, medical, navigation, tourism, education etc.
