Be A Santa - Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road Hosts an Event to celebrate Christmas & spread happiness amongst the underprivileged

Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road marked the New Year and Christmas by hosting Be a Santa initiative, where they distributed groceries and clothing to underprivileged children. In addition, the hospital made funds and grocery donations to an NGO and organized a festive Christmas party for an orphanage.  To honor the dedication of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff, the hospital also arranged various enjoyable activities such as food and fun mela, floor decoration, artifacts, and candle making.

Christmas is a time for coming together and celebrating good health. This serves as a reminder to prioritize our well-being and cherish the gift of good health. As a part of the Be a Santa initiative, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road hosted a lively Fun Fair where staff members operated 8 to 10 stalls and offered homemade treats for sale. The proceeds from the event were then given to the Ashray Akruti Foundation, an NGO dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. Additionally, a week-long donation drive resulted in a collection of groceries that were also donated to those in need. Santa was seen giving out sweets and presents to the children in the Pediatric Department, along with games and plenty of Christmas music and cheer for everyone at the hospital.

“Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road is demonstrating its commitment to enhancing the overall patient experience beyond just medical treatment. This initiative not only helps individuals de-stress and find joy during what can be a difficult time, but it also showcases how healthcare institutions can play a pivotal role in fostering community and support by undertaking initiatives, drives, and campaigns. The Christmas and New Year brings immense happiness. The Hospital carried out a range of activities, events, and campaigns as part of its Be a Santa program. To start with, the hospital staff prepared delectable homemade dishes for a Fun Fiesta event, where the gathered funds and groceries were donated to an NGO. A Santa Claus visited an orphanage to organize games, take photos, dance, enjoy snacks, and cut cake with the children. Furthermore, Santa Claus made rounds to visit all hospital staff and patients, distributing sweets and gifts,” said Alwyn Cutinha, Hospital Staff Member.

“It’s easy to overlook the toll that constant exposure to illness, trauma, and high-pressure situations can take on paramedical staff. By acknowledging our contributions with events like this Christmas party, Wockhardt Hospital not only uplifted our spirits but also provided a relaxed environment to enjoy the festivities. Alongside providing top-notch medical care, recognizing the emotional needs of the hospital staff is crucial for maintaining a resilient and compassionate workforce. The power of such gatherings lies not only in providing relief from stress but also in creating space for camaraderie among colleagues who often share unique challenges within their profession. In doing so, Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road has not only enhanced morale but has also promoted a culture that values both professional excellence and wholehearted support for its paramedical staff,” said Lissymol Sajji, Nursing Staff from the Hospital.

I express my gratitude to the Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road for organizing such meaningful events and programs that in return can provide for our children in NGO. We look forward to being a part of many such interesting initiatives conducted by Wockhardt Hospital,” said Cecil Dmello, Founder, Akshay Akruti Foundation
