In 2021 films are arriving on the big screen as well as in the OTT space in India that narrate inspiring and entertaining stories that have never been told before. Here are a few films that stood out from the rest:

83

A sincere tribute to the champions of the 1983 World Cup win. The film recreates the passion and the vigor that the team demonstrated to win the Cup against all odds, led by Kapil Dev and his team of staunch players.

The cast is led by Ranveer Singh, as none other than the legendary captain himself. 83 is a must-watch for cricket fans around the world, and it shows that anything is possible when a nation comes together as one.

CHEHRE

Anand Pandit had to wait for ages to be able to release his passion project Chehre in theatres. And he finally managed to do that on 27th August 2021. Theatres were still not open in Maharashtra at this time, but the film was released all the same because Pandit felt that every Bachchan fan deserved to see the legend on the big screen. The film also received an impressive response on Amazon Prime in terms of viewership ratings.

SOORYAVANSHI

After many delays due to the pandemic, the Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif starrer was released on 5th November 2021. The crew faced many challenges due to the strict, COVID-19 norms, but somehow managed to draw huge crowds to the theatres upon the film’s release. The cop drama is also trending on an OTT platform.

THE BIG BULL

The Big Bull is a financial thriller that tells the story of ambition and its unavoidable repercussions. The film is directed and co-written by Kookie Gulati.

The film summarizes a chaotic journey, inspired by the life of Harshad Mehta spread across a decade and brought to life by the masterful performance of Abhishek Bachchan. The cast also includes Sohum Shah, Ram Kapoor, Nikita Dutta, Ileana D’Cruz, and Saurabh Shukla.

SARDAR UDHAM

We have already seen Raj Babbar in the titular role ‘Shaheed Uddham Singh’ in 2020. But Vicky Kaushal brought a new perspective to the character of the revolutionary in this film directed by Shoojit Sircar and produced by Rising Sun Films and Kino Works.

Scarred as a young boy by the 1919 Jallianwala Bagh, Udham Singh evolves into a revolutionary with a purpose. Every scene has research and detailing, be it the main character’s journey to reach the UK, or his groundwork before he assassinates Micheal O’Dwyer in London.
