The international fast food major Burger King has come out with special vegetarian menu options in India in order to suit the country’s palate. Now, it is keen to introduce this vegetarian menu in the other markets such as U.K. that are also vegetarian-friendly.
Burger King introduced almost six vegetation snacks, entry level burgers and sandwiches in its menu when it started its operations in the country in November last year. Regarding this, Burger King’s Chief Executive Officer, Raj Varman stated that looking at the response to the introduction of the vegetarian menu the global management is planning to introduce some of the options in other markets with vegetarian-friendly.
Everstone Capital, the private equity firm that is the master franchisee for Burger King in India and it has given complete control over the menu. Also, the firm created a product line that suited the Indian market well to make it different from the usual menu that is offered.
The fast food chain is also hoping to debut with the delivery services soon, the executive said. Ever since the firm launched its operations in the last year, the chain opened 18 restaurants in three regions such as Delhi (NCR), Chandigarh and Mumbai. It is aiming for a strong foray into the southern region with Bengaluru as its first target where it is all set to open six stored in the next two months.
The restaurant chain has a strategy to open its outlets across malls and food courts in the country and it is in plans to invest around Rs 1.75 crore to Rs 2.5 crore to establish each outlet. Burger King is aiming to rise the income in the country by targeting its growth in the tier 2 and tier 3 cities.
The executive further stated that the quick service restaurant is doing pretty well in India and with the rising disposable incomes they will open outlets across India as there is an increased potential here.
