Case study of Baxi, M-Taxi bike taxi service

Baxi is a bike taxi service that has been launched recently. The service has 23 riders and they were given training in etiquette, environment protection, hygiene, and safety standards for a few weeks. Following the training, they have taken the service that was launched last week.

As per one of the riders of Baxi, Shamveer, the company is supporting them in getting loans from the banks in order to buy bikes and insurance, training and registration. It is a good option for the young men who are in small towns to earn a decent sum of money. Many people can earn as they finish their studies, he added.

He claims that he can earn around Rs 15,000 to Rs 20,000 per month initially and this excludes the fuel charges and 10 percent revenue sharing with the Baxi service. There is a Baxi app that provides GPS services to the riders. There is also a meter that has a base fare of Rs 10 for one kilometer and Rs 7 per km following the base fare.

As of now, Baxi service has been launched in Gurgaon. Ashutosh Johri, the Co-Founder and MD of 74C Technologies, the firm that runs Baxi service has been working with the government of Haryana for four months to clear the deck for the Baxi service’s launch. He stated that the business will provider a practical revenue stream for the drivers given that this service is much cheaper than the autorickshaws and cabs. They are in plans to launch the Baxi service in other cities such as Haryana, Sonepat, Faridabad and Bahadurgarh.

On the other hand, Arunabh Madhur started M-Taxi that is the second one to launch bike taxis in Gurgaon. He states that India is the largest manufacturing base and market for two-wheelers and the bike taxis will work well in the country due to traffic problems.

M-Taxi will follow a fleet ownership business model and it has 10 drivers right now. They have partnered with a staffing company that will provide trained drivers who will become their employees.
