The LGBTQ+ community celebrates Pride Month each year as it commemorates its accomplishments as well as its tribulations throughout history. Throughout the year, French menswear brand Celio celebrates love as its glory every season. As part of Monday’s National Pride celebration, Celio took to social media pledging to be an ally of the LGBTQIA+ community by collaborating with them throughout the year and empowering them.
As part of their pledge, the brand launched its first campaign, #WearYourPride, featuring LGBTQIA+ individuals. As a result of #WearYourPride, we were able to prove that the rainbow flag, symbolizing the whole community, isn’t enough to capture the diversity of different identities in the queer community, especially when each has its own flag. With their Celio look, they remade the flag of their identity, celebrating unique identities among queer content creators.
Angelique and Jay Anand, proud LGBTQ+ influencers, collaborated with Celio.
Influencer Jay Anand says, “When you’re part of the LGBTQIA+ community, it’s hard to be your true self.”. We struggle constantly with our identity and ourselves. #PrideFlag is the rainbow flag that represents the entire community (and the new one, for which there is no emoji yet but is even more inclusive than the previous one). But did you know there is a flag for transgender people? I felt represented by this flag like I had a community to call upon. In order to encourage the community to be themselves, Celio is doing their part to be inclusive. It’s time to #WearYourPride by wearing your colors.
Another influencer excited to participate in this campaign, Angelique, says, “While I love the colors of the rainbow, there is something else about me that I want to be more specific about.” Those colors of the lesbian and non-binary flags are being worn by me as a (self-proclaimed) Style IconTM.
According to Satyen Momaya – CEO of India – Celio, the campaign aims to create a better future and an inclusive environment that allows everyone to access the same opportunity. Fortunately, this is just the beginning of our efforts at Celio to nurture the LGBTQIA+ community and its allies through our campaigns, thereby slowly but surely driving positive change.”
