Centre for Ethics, Responsible Organizations & ESG Initiatives (CERO@MDI Gurgaon) and Paryavaran Sangrakshan Gatividhi (PSG) Collaborate for an Impactful Environment Awareness and Felicitation Program in Gurugram
The Centre for Ethics, Responsible Organizations & ESG Initiatives (CERO@MDI Gurgaon) joined hands with Paryavaran Sangrakshan Gatividhi (PSG) to host a significant environmental awareness and felicitation program at MDI Gurgaon on the 25th of February, 2024.
The event commenced with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, accompanied by a soulful rendition of Saraswati Vandana. Lt Col Sanjay Sehgal, Coordinator of Harit Sangam, delivered an illuminating introduction, setting the stage for a day dedicated to fostering environmental consciousness and discussions on sustainability. Prof. Sunil Ashra, a CERO member and Professor in the Economics and Public Policy Area at MDI Gurgaon, delivered the Welcome Address, emphasizing the crucial role of ethical and responsible environmental practices.
The PSG Gurugram Team provided valuable insights into PSG’s commitment to environmental conservation, focusing on tree plantation, water conservation, and reducing polythene usage. Prof. Rupamanjari Sinha Ray, also a CERO member and Professor in the Economics and Public Policy Area at MDI Gurgaon, introduced CERO, outlining its objectives in promoting ethics and responsible initiatives.
The highlight of the event was the Keynote Address delivered by Sh. Subhash Goyal, Convenor, PSG Haryana, shared invaluable insights into the organization’s endeavours towards environmental sustainability. Stressing the importance of environmental conservation, Shri Goyal elaborated on the “Harit Ghar” concept, emphasizing water, energy, land, animal conservation, and forest preservation through community efforts.
Special Guest Dr Prodyut Bhattacharya, former Dean of Guru Govind Singh Indraprastha University, New Delhi, reiterated the need for community involvement in environmental conservation and highlighted the importance of incorporating environment-friendly practices in infrastructure development.
Dr RC Mishra, DGP, IPS, the Chief Guest, emphasized the significance of collective efforts in preserving the environment, discussing the impact of the environment on human and animal health. He encouraged tree plantation as a collective family ritual and stressed the need for balance in development.
The program provided a platform for participants to share their experiences on environmental impact. Experts like Dr. Jayati Talapatra discussed biodiversity and waste management, while Sh. Mohit Sharma, Chief Warden, Civil Defence, Gurugram, shared insights on promoting environmental conservation.
Vikas Sharma, Convenor, PSG Gurugram, expressed gratitude towards MDI, CERO, and Prof. Tanuja Sharma, Lead CERO, for their collaboration. He thanked all guests, participants, NGOs, and corporate entities for contributing to sustainable practices.
The program concluded with a simple, environmentally conscious lunch, fostering camaraderie and strengthening the commitment to environmental sustainability.
