 The Leela Palace, Chennai, announced the re-launch of a new signature menu at its acclaimed Chinese restaurant, China XO. Unveiled a few days back, the menu promises a redefined and bespoke dining experience, taking guests on a captivating exploration of flavors from the Orient. The grand event began with a spectacular welcome featuring a vibrant Foo fog dance performance, setting an energetic and auspicious tone for the evening. Guests were enchanted by the traditional dance, performed by a Foo Dog, symbolizing represent luck, royal and prosperity.
The evening continued with an inspiring opening speech by our team of expert chefs, who shared their passion and vision behind the creation of the new menu. They spoke about the meticulous effort and creativity that went into curating dishes that celebrate the rich tapestry of Chinese cuisine. Following the chefs’ introduction, our esteemed Vice President & General Manager – K M Chengappa, took the stage for the grand unveiling of the menu. His enthusiastic presentation highlighted the innovative dishes and the unique dining experience that China XO offers.
The signature of The Leela Palace Chennai, China XO, serves a magnificent and authentic treat of the finest Chinese dining experience, featuring Cantonese dishes as well as other delicious foods originating from various regions in China including Szechuan and Beijing. The new menu takes guests on a culinary journey, starting with morel mushroom soup with Chinese cabbage and Sichuan persevered chicken soup. The dim sum and Cheung Fun offerings include tofu and black fungus jiaozi, chow chow and pine nut dumplings, scallop, and crab dumplings, among many others. Main courses feature dishes such as asparagus, baby kailan and Pok choy Cantonese style, and chili lobster with steamed Man tau buns. Desserts like Schezwan pepper Crème Brûlée with sesame seed Tuile, mango mousse, and almond dacquoise provide a sweet and satisfying conclusion.
The ambiance was nothing short of magical, with live music serenading the guests and enhancing the elegant atmosphere. The restaurant was beautifully adorned, and the lovely staff of The Leela Palace Chennai ensured that every guest felt special and well-cared for throughout the evening.
