India, January 10, 2023: The Tenth Edition of the 21 Gun Salute International Concours d’Elegance’ was a captivating affair for automobile aficionados. The weekend event, hosted from 06th to 08th January 2023, turned out to be quite an extravaganza for motorcycle enthusiasts featuring about 70 motorcycles from vintage and classic marques. What made the event special for Jawa & Yezdi enthusiasts was inclusion of a special ‘Jawa Yezdi Class’ for the classic motorcycles from these brands.
One of the only two Concours in the world to be recognised as an ICJAG Plus Event, this edition was hosted at Lukshmi Vilas Palace, Vadodara. The Jawa Yezdi Class saw pristinely maintained Jawa and Yezdi motorcycles ranging from a 1950 Jawa Perak to a 1990 Yezdi Roadking that attracted visitors to their dedicated pavilion. To give them company, Classic Legends also showcased the latest range of Jawa and Yezdi models at the venue. This served as an excellent opportunity for enthusiasts to experience the glory and rich heritage of both the brands.
The other vintage and classic treats on display were from manufacturers like BSA, NSA, Triumph, Ariel, Honda, Velocette, Harley-Davidson, Vespa, Lambretta, Victoria, Suvega, KGP, Rajdoot. The visitors interacted with fellow motoring enthusiasts on the joys of owning and preserving such prestigious motorcycles for decades.
Speaking about brand’s participation, Mr. Ashish Singh Joshi, CEO – Classic Legends, said, “Pristinely kept classic Jawa and Yezdi models are a sight to behold and It’s an immensely proud feeling to be in the company of such amazing motorcycles that have shaped the legacy of our brands. We thank the organizers for giving the owners a platform to showcase their prized possessions.“
The cars and motorcycles on display were also recognised and honoured at the event. This year’s panel of judges for motorcycle classes was headed by Adil Jal Darukhanawala – renowned motoring journalist, award-winning author and an authority on vintage and classic automobiles, who was also responsible for curating the complete motorcycle category. Ashish Singh Joshi and S Kapoor completed the jury.
Within the special category reserved as ‘Jawa Yezdi Class’, the 1954 Jawa Type 354, 350 cc twin cylinder belonging to Hem Vyas from Gandhinagar took the top honours, followed by Atul Gokhale’s 1967 Jawa type 353 (250cc) and Abhijeet Sable’s Yezdi model B Flower-Head. A special ‘spirit of riding longevity’ award was given to S. Ananthaprakash’s 1990 Yezdi Roadking.
“Evaluating the motorcycles on display was as delightful as it was difficult, considering the near factory finish on almost each one of them. The gathering of motorcycle enthusiasts and their fascinating stories surely made this event a memorable one”, Mr. Joshi added.
