Chennai: Blue Energy Motors, a pioneering force in India’s clean energy transition and India’s first LNG truck manufacturer, has crossed a significant sustainability milestone, saving 7,500 tonnes of CO2 emissions since the deployment of its LNG-powered trucks. This achievement is equivalent to the carbon absorption capacity of 3 lakh mature trees over the course of one year, marking a major step towards decarbonizing India’s commercial vehicle sector.
This milestone aligns with the Government of India’s LNG mission, which aims to increase the use of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) as a cleaner alternative fuel to reduce carbon emissions, particularly in the transport sector. Blue Energy Motors is a driving force in this mission, spearheading the adoption of LNG technology in commercial vehicles. By actively supporting the government’s efforts to cut emissions from diesel-powered trucks, the company is playing a key role in the country’s transition to sustainable mobility
LNG-powered trucks offer a cleaner alternative to traditional diesel-powered vehicles, emitting up to 30% less CO2, and drastically cutting down on harmful particulate matter by up to 98% and sulphur oxides by up to 100%. Furthermore, the emissions savings potential increases even further with reduction of NOx by up to 59% and noise by up to 30%, bringing India closer to realizing its green house gases reduction goals.
Commenting on the achievement, Anirudh Bhuwalka, CEO of Blue Energy Motors, said:
“Crossing 7,500 tonnes of CO2 savings is a testament to our commitment to sustainable transportation solutions. This achievement reflects not only our progress but also the potential that LNG and other renewable energy sources have in transforming the commercial vehicle industry. We remain dedicated to working in line with India’s goals for Net Zero and will continue to invest in innovative clean energy technologies that drive the industry towards a greener future.”
As part of the company’s mission to reduce emissions in the trucking industry, Blue Energy Motors has steadily expanded its LNG truck fleet, providing the logistics industry with a sustainable transport option. The company’s trucks, which are specifically designed for long-haul transportation, are already playing a key role in reducing pollution and supporting cleaner logistics operations of Fortune 500 companies across India.
