Now with everyone being confined in their houses and in this ongoing horror and enforced remote working situation, cloud computing apps have been the adhesive that made the connectivity and operations work. With all the safety precautions being taken by the government in controlling the spread mass gatherings along with the other normal life things have been stopped. As the scenario has banned employees from going to their offices, need a way to communicate or apps that could be accessed from any device and anywhere.

Thus making the cloud computing apps needed more than ever. With all the markets being crashed and sales, revenue for the companies/businesses not so good organizations have decided to cut shirt the costs and expenses. But as cloud computing stands tall in the list of requirements during this pandemic making cloud computing the only software category where spending wouldn’t be cut shorted.

With the many advantages that the cloud computing applications there are some security issues concerning them;

  • Shared cloud computing services
  • Employee negligence
  • Data loss
  • Inadequate data backups
  • Phishing
  • Social engineering attacks
  • System vulnerabilities

From the above-said problems, we know that securing corporate data stored in any cloud computing app to be difficult. According to a research done recently, it has been studied that 46% of the data stored by organizations throughout Europe are done using these cloud computing apps, and 43% of them are sensitive, yet only half of these data are secured through encryption. Some of the companies last year even admitted the breach of data.

The complexity of these cloud platforms affects data security. Thus, making the data stored secure, safe and sound is important. Businesses around the world also faced a lack of the budget of about 30%, staff to manage of about 28% and organization low/buy-in priority of about 25%. Struggling with the existing problems some companies are even worried about quantum computing- a computation done using quantum and mechanical phenomena such as entanglement and superpositions. This could form more new threats regarding data security, therefore some are looking away from cryptography and encryption when a similar crowd is looking at key management techniques with quantum-safe random number support that could provide security to the data on the cloud.
