Brand Equity has released a list of India’s Top 100 Most Trusted Brands on Wednesday. The survey involved around 7,200 respondents and was conducted by Nielson across SEC A, B and C that are confined to urbanIndia. This was done to focus on the prime target consumers for most of the brands.
As a result of the survey, Colgate has occupied the top of the trust pyramid for the third consecutive year. In the history of Most Trusted Brands survey, this is the second hat trick. After Colgate, Nokia has come from the seventh position to the second place, thereby pushing Dettol from the second place to the third this year.
Most of the other brands from the top block in 2014 remain in the same position, although there is a minor jump or drop for some brands. Airtel, Closeup and Lifebuoy were expelled from the top 10 by Bata, Frooti and Surf Excel.
Brand Equity has considered respondents from over 12 cities to conduct the research. The cities areDelhi,Lucknow,Chandigarh, Kolkata,Patna,Bhubaneswar, Mumbai, Ahmedabad,Indore, Chennai,BangaloreandVijayawadarespectively.
After several months of talks and debates between Nielsen’s research firm and Brand Equity, 17 new brands were added to the survey. Those brands that had poor scores and those that are defunct have been ousted from the survey this year.
Brands such as Colgate, Dettol, Maggi, Lux, Surf Excel, Bata, Britannia, Frooti, Cadbury, Lifebuoy and Tata Salt are some that have found their place in the list of legacy brands as they have done justice to their consumers year after year for decades.
The Most Trusted Brands Survey by Brand Equity has been more relevant and consequential. It is mandatory for any brand to keep their consumers’ faith and patronage as it would help them establish an unshakable bond. In fact, trust is a total game changer when it comes to brand rankings.
