Covid cases and test positivity shoots up in Kerala

As we all know the current situation in Kerala as it deals with the number of covid cases and the test positivity rate with the third wave of Covid-19, the Omicron surge, Kerala shoots up high in the scale of the digits. 

According to the latest reports, the states reported 29,000 cases and a test positivity rate of 35.3% in the last 24 hours. The state almost tested 81,000 samples on the same days. Thiruvananthapuram is the leading city and the second leading city comes Ernakulam. 

There are around 2 lakh active cases in Kerala with a round figure of  8000 recoveries. The health minister Veena George seemed very anxious about the situation of the state when she addressed the media on the last day. 

As of now, there are no particular restrictions and rules imposed on the state with regard to taking the situation of the economy in mind and the colleges made classes online according to their personal decision made with the university or board. 

The regular form of home isolation and quarantine is continuing for people who travel from abroad to the state and there are yet some decisions to be made to tighten the rules regarding the same

The exams whose dates got already published are taking place and according to the latest reports there will be a public meeting with all the ministers regarding this situation tomorrow and the state will get to know what are the new rules to be followed to bring down the cases and test positivity rate. 

The state doesn’t seem to impose a lockdown taking in mind the concern of living. 

There are 3 lakh people under observation in the whole state and around 2 lakh people in isolation or home quarantine with a count of 5500 people being hospitalized. 

The hospitalization rate is only 3.4% but 944 new covid cases have been reported on the same day in the hospitals. 

Almost 28,000 cases have been developed through infections and 6000 cases the source is unknown and 215 cases were reported by the health workers, 165 cases from the arrivals from another state.
