The event held to commemorate the World Pharmacists Day, the office bearers, students and faculty members of the institution converged on the theme of ‘Pharmacists Strengthening the Health System’ to take an oath, clean the campus, and visit Mission ASHRA Trust, a shelter home for intellectually challenged and destitute women suffering from mental health conditions.

I would like to convey my heartfelt gratitude to all pharmacists bolstering the healthcare ecosystem,” said Prof Supriya Pattanayak lauding the efforts of SoPLS.

The event was further graced by Prof Dr Namita Mohapatra, Vice Principal, PGIMER and Capital Hospital, Bhubaneswar, and Mr Laxmidhar Sahoo, Health Inspector AIIMS Bhubaneswar. World Pharmacist Day is an annual event dedicated to recognizing and appreciating the significant role that pharmacists play in healthcare and the well-being of individuals and communities worldwide. The day was established by the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) in 2009 to highlight the contributions of pharmacists to healthcare and to raise awareness about the importance of the pharmacy profession. Each year, World Pharmacist Day has a specific theme to focus on particular aspects of the pharmacy profession and its impact on global health.

Pharmacists are vital members of the healthcare team, and they play various roles, including dispensing medications, counselling patients on proper medication use, monitoring drug therapies, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective patient care. They also contribute to research, education, and advocacy efforts related to healthcare and the pharmaceutical industry.
