Over the years, the food sector has grown immensely with new trends arising, especially during the COVID time.

In India, the consumers witnessed an increase in demand for indigenous crops like millets and pulses. These became popular under the title ‘Superfoods’.

It is a marketing term given to food items that are rich in nutrition and have health benefits with the sole purpose of influencing the food trends and selling such products. Now the trend is eating seeds such as sunflower, pumpkin, tamarind, and more seeds that have been present in our country for many years.

However, the demand for such seeds grew as even the urban households started preferring it for its effective advantages.

The popular Indian brand Dabur Real is all set to launch its superfood products; Chia seeds and pumpkin seeds. These seeds are rich in essential nutrients and low in calorie content, which is now what the consumers want.

According to Monisha Prasher, the AGM marketing, Dabur India, their research results reveal that the consumers have grown health conscious because of the easy access to information and awareness due to the technological development.

Further, they added, “The consumer is shifting from taste-based snacks such as chips, biscuits, and other savory options to health-oriented snacks.” That’s how the brand decided to launch snacks keeping in mind both taste and health for the customers.

Dabur Real is India’s own leading beverage brand with 22 fruit flavors and has a premium range like Guava, Mixed Fruit, Pomegranate, Alphonso Mango, Pink Guava, Mixed Berries, Masala Aam Panna, Masala Guava, etc. Even though it is a beverage brand, Prasher is confident that consumers will accept the Chia and Pumpkin seeds.

As the demand for various snack options had increased during the pandemic at the same time, people were also concerned about their health choices and this led to people’s search for healthy snack options.

Dabur wants to take up the challenge to change the mindset of Indians who are used to munching on heavy snacks like samosas and kachoris. They believe that their products would fill in as a healthier alternative during mid-meal hunger pangs because of the guilt that comes with heavy snacking.

The brand is also trying to spread consumer awareness on how to use these products effectively through advertising campaigns and online videos.

Their vision is dedicated to the health and welfare of every household. And in hope that this would bring them towards the millennial and Gen Z who are much more interested in these kinds of snack options, Dabur Real adds Chia and Pumpkin seeds.
